The growth of foreign trade in the western area has prompted strong growth in air passenger service and general and express freight. Several air carriers and general cargo express carriers offer their services at the International Airport of Guadalajara such as Federal Express, DHL Express, United Parcel Service, DHL-Global, Aeromexpress, MasAir, Cargolux, Aerounion, Lufthansa Cargo among others.
The expansion and remodeling of the Customs of Guadalajara in 2013 allow for a better attention on the import and export platforms and the growth of new routes or commercial bridges to Europe and Asia for the benefit of the industry of the West and Bajío region.
Ferromex is the railroad that services from the Customs Section Rail port in Guadalajara and joins this city through the intermodal service of goods in freight containers and semi-trailers with daily services to Manzanillo and Altamira, Monterrey, Torreon, Silao, Aguascalientes and Hermosillo; in addition it interconnects with Ferrosur and KCSM to service the ports of Veracruz and Lazaro Cardenas. Its InterPacífic service runs parallel to the coast touching the following points: Mexico, Silao, Topolobampo, Cd. Obregón, Hermosillo and Mexicali. In its international service, it interchanges with UPRR and BNSF Railway in the de Nogales/Nogales and Cd. Juárez/El Paso borders. It is interesting to note that Ferromex operates two very famous national and internationally tourist routes in Mexico: The CHEPE, (Chihuahua-Pacific) and the Tequila Express between Guadalajara-Tequila, Jalisco.
